At the Château, each year brings its share of challenges, and every financial decision becomes an essential piece of the puzzle. As Financial Manager since 2022, I stand at the heart of this adventure, understanding the aspects of viticulture, anticipating the cellar’s needs, adjusting budgets and investments. Each action contributes to the passion and expertise that drive the estate.
1. How is the financial management strategy of a Grand Cru Classé implemented on a daily basis?
“Managing finances rigorously requires a solid understanding of viticultural techniques and the wine production cycle. I particularly enjoy exchanging ideas in the field with the technical director, the vineyard manager, the cellar manager, and the sales manager to fully understand their needs and adjust our decisions accordingly.
Being attentive is also essential to define a coherent policy that is fully aligned with the estate’s objectives. This overall perspective also allows me to guide investment strategies, a key aspect of the role.
Regular discussions with the owner remain essential to fully understand and adapt to their vision.”
2. How do recent investments reflect a sustainable ambition at Issan?
“The investments are part of a medium- and long-term vision, which I believe is essential to ensure the estate’s sustainability. They aim to preserve the terroir, continuously improve the quality of the vineyard and facilities, and protect and enhance the heritage.
They also help strengthen the economic resilience of the entire estate.”
3. What does it mean for you to work in such a historically significant place?
“It is a privilege, truly a privilege, to work every day alongside professionals who are passionate about their work.
It is also an opportunity to evolve within an exceptional working environment.
But it is also a personal engagement: to preserve this heritage and these human values. All of this gives full meaning to my work on a daily basis.”
