Teamwork and Expertise: The 2025 Harvest at Château d’Issan
The 2025 red grape harvest officially began at Château d’Issan, Grand Cru Classé 1855 in the Margaux appellation, on September 11, 2025. Following a season marked by an early, wet spring and a hot, dry summer, this harvest marks the culmination of a full year of meticulous work, driven by the pursuit of precision and elegance that defines our wines.
A Harvest Led by a Passionate Team
Under the leadership of Technical Director Éric Pellon, and with the collaboration of Vineyard Manager Olivier Chalaud and Cellar Master Clément Di Constanzo, the harvest mobilizes a team of 100 pickers. Carried out manually, parcel by parcel, the grapes are sorted 50% by hand on sorting tables and 50% using optical sorting, across a total of 68 hectares.
This harvest will give birth to our four cuvées:
Château d’Issan, Grand Cru Classé in the Margaux appellation
Blason d’Issan, the second wine of the Château, also in the Margaux appellation
Haut-Médoc d’Issan, in the Haut-Médoc appellation
Moulin d’Issan, in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation
From Vineyard to Cellar: Precision in Winemaking
Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are transferred to the vat room, where 53 temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks await. Each plot receives tailored attention, following a rigorous vinification protocol: temperature control around 26°C, daily pump-overs, regular tastings, and analytical monitoring.
A Promising 2025 Vintage
Despite a summer marked by scarce rainfall and sustained heatwaves, the harvest has delivered grapes of remarkable quality. With a potential alcohol level of 13.5% vol and a solid tannic structure, phenolic ripeness has been achieved. This profile suggests a well-balanced vintage, combining concentration, elegance, and aging potential, while maintaining pleasant drinkability in its youth.
Collective Expertise in Service of the Wine
The 2025 harvest reflects the commitment of the entire Château d’Issan team. From the vineyard to the cellar, the synergy between the vineyard manager, cellar master, technical director, and harvest workers embodies a collective expertise that ensures our wines remain faithful to their terroirs.
In total, 10 days were needed to harvest all the grapes. We look forward to sharing with you, in the coming months, our first impressions of this 2025 vintage, which promises to be a remarkable expression of our Margaux, Médoc, and Bordeaux terroirs.
